You don't have any insight into your pipeline
I have more data on my sleep than most GTM teams have on their revenue
We already see every other tech bro on the timeline obsessed with their Eight Sleep. I fear I have become one of them.
Face down in the data before I've said a word
Every morning, before I've even formed a single sentence to another human, I am dissecting my sleep metrics: HRV, REM, deep sleep. I know my baseline. I know what a bad night looks like before I even begin to feel it in my body. Keep in mind, I don’t drink caffeine so this data is crucial for me. Sometimes I get really unhinged and paste the whole thing into Claude and ask it to coach me like I'm LeBron before a game.
I promise this is not my whole personality. Yet.
Okay but here's the actual point, stay with me —
I track this stuff obsessively because it tells me what today needs to look like before today has a chance to blindside me. Am I running on empty, or good to push. Do I move the hard call to tomorrow, or push through it today. Is my body quietly telling me to sit down before my calendar does it for me. I treat recovery like an athlete because the data shows up early. It's a leading indicator. It gives me a chance to adjust before the outcome is already written.
Most GTM teams don't have an Eight Sleep for their pipeline. They're not checking vitals daily. They wait until the lagging indicator — revenue — is already on the floor, and then they act shocked, scrambling for a Q4 miracle that was never coming.
Meanwhile the leading indicators were screaming the whole time. Open rates tanking. Connect rates on LinkedIn and phone going quiet. Reply rates drifting down for three weeks straight while everyone kept running the exact same sequence because "it worked in Q2." Nobody checked the dashboard. Nobody adjusted. They just kept spraying and praying.
Recovery data and pipeline data are the same discipline. Just different dashboards. One tells you how your body is performing before you burn out. The other tells you how your outbound is performing before your pipeline dries up. Ignore either one long enough and you don't get a warning, you have a crisis.
I'm not saying rip up your entire GTM motion this afternoon. I'm saying go stare at one number. Just one. Is it the messaging? Is it who you're targeting? Is it the time of day you're sending? Pick the one leading indicator that's been quietly declining and actually look at it instead of scrolling past it.
Go get 30 more minutes of sleep. Then go rewrite one cold email sequence like your revenue depends on it.
